Joe Cole, 88, Latour, Missouri, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Joe was born March 28, 1925 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the son of Joe Cole and Eula Mae (Crawford) Cole. He had lived in Latour since the late 1960's/early 1970's. He married his first wife, Geneva Thomas, in 1944 and to this union six children were born. Joe married Ophelia Motley on April 26, 1963. He was a farmer, an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Geneva, an infant son, Linus Cole, two daughters, Bernitta Joyner and infant Geraldine and one brother, J. C. Cole. He is survived by his wife, Ophelia, of the home; two sons, Robert C. Cole and Edward Scott, both of Kansas City, Missouri; three daughters, JoAnn Murray (Curtis), Sommerset, New Jersey, Jerri R. Garrison and Sherry Scott, both of Kansas City, Missouri and four stepsons, Dennis, Eddie Dean, David, and Alonzo Nash; 10 grandchildren, Kevin Ervin, Angela Joyner, Joseph H. C. Murray, Stephanie Hood, Robin Willis, Venessa Cole Bowles, Cynthia Cole, Paula Cole, Jerri Garrison and Jessica Cole; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson, Frank, and one more on the way. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
