Joanne Mary Renner, 79, Cleveland, MO, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at The Healthcare Resort of Leawood in Leawood, KS. Funeral services were held May 26, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund.

Joanne was born January 6, 1939 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of James and Alice (Poindexter) Cates. She attended Louisburg High School. Joanne lived in Kansas City before moving to Louisburg, KS in 1954. She married George A. Renner on October 12, 1956 at the Merriam Christian Church in Merriam, KS. After her marriage to George Renner, they moved to George's family farm in Cleveland, MO.

Joanne had worked at Hallmark in Kansas City, MO and had also worked for the Miami County Library in Louisburg, KS for several years. .

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Warren, and two brothers, Floyd and Charles Cates. She is survived by her husband, George, of the home; one son, Brian Renner and his wife, Caren, Cleveland, MO; one daughter, Carla Renner, Omaha, NE; one brother, Richard Cates and his wife, Vicki, Raytown, MO; 7 grandchildren, Allie Palmer (Chris), Bree Renner, Tori Navickas, Tesa Oryall (Joshua), Cody Navickas, Brice Renner, and Kylie Navickas.
