Jo Ellen Irwin, 61, Harrisonville, MO, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. No services are scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Jo was born April 13, 1956 in Sac City, IA, the daughter of Maurice and Kathryn (Kent) Irwin. She was a 1974 graduate of Sac City High School. Jo received a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Denver, CO and also received a Bachelor's degree in Organ Performance from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She moved to Harrisonville, MO in 1988 and worked at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library for several years. She was currently working as a sales associate at Wal-Mart.

Jo was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville and was the church organist for over 20 years. She initiated and managed the annual First Christian Church Book Sale, with proceeds for Harrisonville Shepherd's Staff Food Pantry, for the past 10 years. She was a very hard worker and a gifted musician.

Jo survived by one son, Thomas Devine (Shelbi), Sedalia, MO; one daughter, Kelly Cave (Andrew), Peculiar, MO; her mother, Kathryn Irwin, Sac City, IA; two brothers, Jay Irwin and Chris Irwin (Susan), all of Sac City, IA; one sister, Maureen Horn (Eric), Spring, TX; and four grandchildren, Hayden, Ellie, Lorelai, and Corbin.
