Jimmy Gordon Haskins, 83, Lake Annette, Missouri died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri, following a lengthy illness. Military graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 16 at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri.

Jimmy had been a resident of Raymore Rehabilitation since January of this year. He was born July 31, 1933 in Midnight, Mississippi, the son of Estelle Haskins. He was a 1952 graduate of Belzoni Mississippi High School. He married Phyllis G. Eastham on April 21, 1962 in Miami, Oklahoma. He joined the U. S. Air Force on September 14, 1955 and retired January 31, 1976 at the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a flight engineer and had flown over 200 missions in Vietnam during the war, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. He received many medals and commendations during his career for missions all over the world. After his retirement from the Air Force, Jimmy worked at grocery stores in Peculiar and Harrisonville. When he finally decided to retire, he was working at Wal-Mart. He love people and helping someone was a joy to him.

Jimmy loved his home at Lake Annette. He worked tirelessly to make the community a better place for all to live. He was elected Lake Annette's first mayor.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Haskins, step-daughter, Gayla A. Hillier, two step-sons, J. R. Eastham and Barry Eastham. He is survived by a step-daughter, Elizabeth L. Winchel; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was dearly loved by all of his family and anyone that knew him. He will be missed.
