Jesse Dean "J. D." Young, 69, Freeman, MO, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Memorial services 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 12 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Inurnment in Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

J. D. was born December 3, 1937 in West Line, MO, the son of Herschel C. and Geneva Mae (Prettyman) Young. He worked for the Block Plant and Don Farr Construction in Harrisonville and also for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line and Hallett Construction. He worked with 4-H Horsemanship for over 15 years. J. D. was an outdoorsman. He liked to play baseball and had played for town and church teams at Bolivar, MO, Archie, MO, Springfield, MO and many others. He enjoyed hunting, fly-fishing and liked to ride horses.

J. D. was preceded in death by his daughter, Justina Lane Young on November 4, 1994, his parents and two brothers, James Franklin and Herschel Leroy Young. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; four daughters, Koni Young, Freeman, MO, Geneva Kohler and Ed Anderson, Holt, MO, Sue Newkirk and her husband, Jimmy, Versailles, MO and Wilma Kemper, Freeman, MO; three sons, Herschel Young and his wife, Lora, Freeman, MO, William Young and his wife, Michelle, Harrisonville, MO and Jim Young and Nancy Scharnhorst, Freeman, MO; two brothers, Robert Thomas Young and his wife, Lois, West Line, MO and Charles Lester Young and his wife, Jean, Pleasant Hill, MO; one sister, Etta Mae Robinette, Colorado Springs, CO; 12 grandchildren, Keith, Leah, Shawna, Falon, Alex, Johnathan, Jessica, Megan, Jennifer, Dustin, Dalton and Katelyn; one step grandchild, Jay; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Parker and Jesse (Charlie); one step-great-grandchild, Shyanne; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
