Jerry Mac Ford, 54, Adrian, MO, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at his home in Adrian. Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, MO. Inurnment was in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop #238, Adrian, MO.
Jerry was born on June 16, 1954 in Butler, MO, the fourth child born to Marvin Louis and Doris Lee (Oltmans) Ford. He was united in marriage to Diana Lynn Brady in 1974. Two sons were born to this union, Richard and Scott.
As a child, Jerry was especially close to his mother. He was always able to find her the best gifts and enjoyed delivering the paper with Mom and his siblings. He belonged to Troop 238 of the Boy Scouts and became a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Jerry enjoyed playing baseball, even if he had to play by himself. By Jerry's side you could usually find his dog, a faithful companion named Huckleberry.
Jerry worked in numerous fields, spending most of the time at Phelps Tool and Die as a welder. In his spare time he enjoyed reading thriller books and cooking, and he was a very good cook. Other hobbies included playing Monday night ping-pong, bowling and washers. Jerry took pride in being a coach, member and President of Adrian Little League Baseball. He was also a member of the Adrian School Booster Club and the United Methodist Church. Jerry volunteered as a member of the "Bomb Squad" for the Adrian 4th of July celebration for many years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roland (Rolly) Ford and Kenneth L. Ford. He is survived by his two sons, Richard and wife Gwen, and Scott, all of Adrian; one grandchild, Seth, of Adrian; three sisters, Janice Highley and husband, Bob, Butler, MO; Patti Knox and husband, Steve, Kansas City, MO and Nancy Bowman and husband, Jim, Adrian. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
