Jeffrey Scott Leister, 57, of Amsterdam, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at his home in Amsterdam.
A Masonic Service was held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, followed by the funeral service, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. Burial was held at West Point Cemetery, Amsterdam, MO.
Jeff was born on December 3, 1961 in Harrisonville, MO, a son of Mike and Linda (McGuire) Leister. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1980 graduate of Miami R-1 High School in Amoret, MO. Jeff was united in marriage to Beth Wood on October 7, 1988 in Olathe, Kansas.
He was a union truck driver and worked for 30 years at the KCP&L generating plant at LaCygne, Kansas. Jeff worked for various construction companies while working at the plant and when he retired this year, he was working for the Kissick Construction Co. He was a member of Teamsters Local #541. Jeff was a member of the Bates County Fair Board, a 4-H Beef Leader with the Amsterdam 4-H and a member and past master of Amsterdam Masonic Lodge # 141 AF & AM in Amsterdam, MO.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; infant brothers, Baby Denny and Baby Leister; his grandparents, Grandpa and Granny Leister, Cotton Virgil McGuire, and Wilma Bennet; and his father-in-law, Bill Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Leister, of Amsterdam; a son, Jeremy Leister and wife, Summer, Stillwater, OK; a daughter, Jordan "Gert" Leister-Gant and husband, Jesse, Wesley Chapel, FL; his pride and joy, granddaughter, Avery Rae Leister, Stillwater, OK; two brothers, Johnny Leister and wife, Sandi, Amsterdam, and Jimmie Leister, Butler, MO; a sister, Jackie Silvia and husband, Gary, Williamsburg, VA; nieces, Tab "Tabber Cole" and LeAnna Leister, Erika "Frizzler" Irwin and husband, Jeffery, Sam "Samurai " Leister, Kasey "Little Bit" Bennett and husband, Matt, Somer Jo "Knot Head" Hunter and husband, Alex; his mother-in law, Betty Wood; his brother-in-law, Brian Wood; three great nieces, Kenzee and Kamee Snider and Sophie Stillians.
Jeff enjoyed spring and summer jackpot cattle shows and taught his children to work hard and learn by doing. His motto was "If something ain't working, change it."
In lieu of flowers, Jeff wanted to continue his legacy and have donations made to Avery's Show Fund.
