Jean Payne, 90, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Crown Care Center.  A private family graveside was held on November 23, 2020 at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville.

Jean was born February 6, 1930 in Lebanon, Missouri, a daughter of Raymond Clyde and Alma (Stark) Claxton.

Jean was united in marriage to James Donald Payne, December 16, 1946 in Springfield, MO and they made their home in Springfield before moving to Harrisonville in 1953.  Jean was the bookkeeper for the family business, Tri-County Dairy Equipment, for over twenty years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on May 13, 1973; a son, Danny Payne, on September 14, 2020; her sister, Ruth Claxton; and a grandson, Korrie Chaney, on May 7, 2014.

Jean is survived by two sons: David Payne and Tim Payne, both of Harrisonville; a daughter, Alma Chaney, of Kearney, MO; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
