JARVIS  DALE  "J. D."  SEDGWICK

Jarvis Dale "J. D." Sedgwick, 89, Harrisonville, Missouri died Friday, February 1, 2019 at Golden Years in Harrisonville.  A memorial service was held  Wednesday, February  6, 2019 at the LaMonte Christian Church in LaMonte,  MO.

J.D. was born July 10, 1929 in Carrollton, MO, a son of William Floyd and Ida Merle (White) Sedgwick.  He was united in marriage to Nancy Ackerman, December 12, 1953 in Marshall, MO.  He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

The family lived in Coon Rapids, IA where J.D. owned three gas stations and was an oil jobber for Sinclair Oil Co.  In the late 1970's he sold the business and moved to Sedalia , MO where he worked for the State Of Missouri , Weights and Measures Dept.  He moved to Harrisonville in 2002.  He was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church in Sedalia, MO and belonged to the Masonic Lodge and Shrine in Iowa.  He loved to fish, play golf, was a pilot and owned his own plane.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.  He is survived by three daughters, Floy (Greg) Kenyon, Guthrie Center, IA, Kathy Burgin, Harrisonville, and Peggy (Jim) Harrison, LaMonte, MO; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Don) Janeski, Independence, MO, and Betty Elliott, Liberty, MO; seven grandchildren, Aaron Kenyon, Angie McAlister, Michael Kenyon, Hillary Newman, Sarah Nitschke, Samantha Harrison, and Lacy Bell;  14  great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
