Janice "Jan" Ruth Harris, 64, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at her home. A memorial/visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice, 1626 Elm Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Jan was born August 16, 1949 in Cole Camp, Missouri, the daughter of Roy John and Ella Ruth (Ehlers) Lutjen. She married John D. Harris on June 12, 2000 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jan lived in Sedalia, Missouri before moving to Kansas City. She was a graduate of Ruskin High School in Kansas City. She had lived in Freeman for 10 years before moving to Harrisonville. Jan worked for Hallmark Cards for 41 years before retiring in 2010.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John D. Harris, of the home; two sons, John W. Crabb (Dani), Belton, Missouri and Jeff M. Crabb, Kansas City, Missouri; three stepsons, John J. Harris (Kathy), Oak Grove, Missouri, Robbie J. Harris (Cari), San Jose, California and Troy L. Harris (Elizabeth), Bates City, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Smith (Dan Bowden), Raymore, Missouri and Joyce Webb, Kansas City, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
