Janice (Walker) Actkinson, 81, Harrisonville, MO passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. The family will have a private graveside service at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville at a later date. To honor her memory, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.

Janice was born November 7th, 1942 in Urbana, MO, the daughter of Virgil Walker and Winnie (Richards) Walker.  Her family moved to Windsor, MO where Janice was a 1960 graduate of Windsor High School. She attended college and received her BA at Central Missouri State University and then received her master's degree from Webster University in Kansas City, MO.  On December 27th, 1963 Janice was united in marriage to Tom Actkinson in Miami, OK.  They lived in Kansas City, MO and Garden City, MO before moving to Harrisonville in 1986.

Janice was an elementary teacher for 38 years starting in Raytown and retiring from Harrisonville in 2001. She poured her time into her family and later her grandchildren's activities. Janice enjoyed antiquing and spending weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Winnie Walker; and one sister, June Miller. She is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Ryan Actkinson, and his wife, Krystal; daughter, Angie Dawson, and husband, Robert, and daughter, Ashley Cowley, and husband, Terry. In addition to her three children, Janice had five grandchild – Raegan Dawson, Trevor Actkinson, Madelyn Dawson, Allison Dawson and Karsten Cowley.
