Janet Lee Brandes, 69, of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. No services are scheduled at this time.

Janet was born May 30, 1953 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of Howard Wade Arnold and Betty Jean (Moody) Mackey. She was raised in Couch, MO with her siblings. Janet went on to work for Shelter Insurance in both Columbia, MO and then in California. Later in life, she enjoyed helping her daughter with her daycare business whenever she could. She lived in California for 42 years before relocating back to Harrisonville, MO near her sisters in 2019. In her free time, Janet enjoyed fishing, going to the "boats", expressing herself through tattoos, and getting her nails done every week.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Mackey; her father, Howard Arnold; and her siblings: Sandra Kay Cypret, Larry Richard Arnold, and Deborah Marie Arnold. She is survived by one son, Charles David Martin of Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Anna (Duane) Carter of CA; two sisters: Beverly (Jimmy) Hicks and JoAnn (Bernetta Hackworth) Arnold, all of Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Gary (Wilma) Wayne Arnold of Columbia, MO; her half-sister, Peggy Alford and her family; two grandsons; her nephew, Mike (Tara) Hillyer and their family; great-niece, Alexyss (Tucker) Dunham and their son, T. J.; and many more nieces, nephews, and extended family.
