James Andrew Woody, 89, Belton, MO, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO.

Jim was born February 22, 1922 in Monegaw Springs, MO, the son of James Melvin and Elizabeth Ann (Mistler) Woody. He married Erma Lee Shaw on May 10, 1943. He was a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant and an Aircraft Inspector at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Erma, of the home; two sons, Larry Woody, Lee's Summit, MO and James D. Shaw, Leavenworth, KS; one daughter, Peggy Melton and her husband, Tom, Bates City, MO; two brothers, David Woody and Bill Woody, Sacramento, CA; one sister, Betty Tharp, Meadville, MO; 4 grandchildren, Tomi Lee Melton, Jesse Dean Shaw, Kourtney Sue Shaw and Lindsey Rae Shaw; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
