James Wilbert Thompson, 80, Jerico Springs, MO,
formerly of Harrisonville, MO, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Freeman West Medical Center in Joplin, MO.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in the Grain Valley Cemetery, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00pm Friday, Dec. 28, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
James was born October 17, 1927 in Santa Rosa, MO, a son of Guy and Hattie Viola (Claycomb) Thompson. He grew up in the Grain Valley area and was a 1947 Graduate of Grain Valley High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Bartels on November 26, 1953 in Blue Springs, MO. They lived in Harrisonville 26 years before moving to Jerico Springs. James worked for Honeywell as a machinist 37 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Thompson, of the home; two sons, Kevin Thompson, Adrian, MO, and Walter Thompson, Jenks, OK; two daughters, Becky Allen, Cleveland, OK, and Priscilla Thompson, Amity, MO; two brothers, Kenneth Thompson, Edmond,OK, and Frank Thompson, Grain Valley, MO; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
