James Thomas "J. T." Sutton, 21, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, August 9, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Sheriff's Office Regional Training Academy.

J. T. was born November 15, 1992 in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of James Maurice and Debra Lynne (Burgin) Sutton, II. He was a 2011 graduate of Harrisonville High School and a member of the Inaugural Class #1301, Cass County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy in Harrisonville, Missouri. J. T. was a reserve policeman in Garden City, Missouri and worked for Whelan Security in Kansas City, Missouri.

J. T. is survived by his fiancée, Jessica Poe, Harrisonville, Missouri; his parents, James and Debra Sutton, Greenwood, Missouri; one brother, Steven Kyle Sutton and his wife, Crystal, Lee's Summit, Missouri; one sister, Tara Lynne Sutton, Greenwood, Missouri; maternal grandmothers, Janie Burgin, Martinsburg, West Virginia and Karen Burgin, Harrisonville, Missouri; maternal grandfather, Tom Burgin, Altus, Oklahoma; and paternal grandparents, James M. and Mary Louise Sutton, Frankfort, Kentucky.
