James Elmer Schlagle, 78, of Peculiar, MO died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO.
James was born September 11, 1939 in Little Blue, MO to Bertram Leroy and Ruby Rosetta (Gildehous) Schlagle. On May 29, 1959 he was united in marriage to Janice Jeanne Jurgeson. He worked for Tip Top Plumbing in Kansas City, MO and also had worked as an excavator at Robinson Diversified in Belton, MO.
James was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, and riding ATV/UTV when he was able.
James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee Schlagle and Donnie Schlagle, and one sister, Duane Beach. He is survived by his wife, Janice of the home; three children, James A. Schlagle and wife, Bridgett, Peculiar, MO, Sherri E. Wachter and husband, Monte, Freeman, MO, and Daniel L. Schlagle and wife, Anita, Peculiar, MO; four sisters, Darlene Meder, SC, Beulah Zahn, Pleasant Hill, MO, Rosetta Hart, Spring Hill, KS, and Judy McQuay and husband, Dennis, FL; five grandchildren, Jesse, Frankie, Michaela, Alexis, and Corey; one great-granddaughter, Avery, and several nieces and nephews.
