Obituary

James "Jim" Robert Hockaday, 65, Lake Winnebago, MO, formerly of Peculiar and Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, July 18, 2011 at NorthCare Hospice in North Kansas City, MO. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. (Cremation). Inurnment will be held in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jim was born November 19, 1945 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Robert Henry and Vivian Pauline (Peek) Hockaday. He was a 1963 graduate of Raymore-Peculiar High School and a 1969 graduate of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO with a BA degree.

Jim married Sherry F. Grider on November 30, 1968 in Peculiar. He served with the National Guard in the 1960's. He and Sherry had lived in Peculiar before moving to Harrisonville in 1980. They owned and operated Westchester Lanes from October, 1973 – September, 2005. Jim was a member of the Elks Lodge in Harrisonville. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sherry, of the home; two sons, Justin Hockaday and his wife, Suzanne, Lake Winnebago, MO and Jesse Hockaday, Lee's Summit, MO; one daughter, Jamie Feeback and her husband, Luke, Harrisonville, MO and one granddaughter, Presley Faye Feeback.
