James "Jim" Richard Kirk, 74, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, July 31, 2015 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, The American Liver Foundation, or American Kidney Foundation.

Jim was born July 24, 1941 in Camp Branch Township in Cass County, Missouri, the son of Walter Oliver and Ethel Pearl (Huey) Kirk. He attended Bethel Rural School #42 and Oak Grove Rural School #41. He was a 1959 graduate of Harrisonville High School and was a lifelong resident of Harrisonville. Jim married Joyce Ann Schmoll on November 24, 1962. He owned and operated Todays Floor Covering in Harrisonville from 1978-1992.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Kirk. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; two sons, David Kirk, Greenwood, Missouri and Darren Kirk, Kansas City, Missouri; three daughters, Denise Ponds, Belton, Missouri, Danelle Roach, Garden City, Missouri and Deeta Geddes, Merriam, Kansas; two brothers, Bob Ray Kirk, Harrisonville, Missouri and Johnie J. Kirk, Florida; one sister, Viola Weddington Wieberg (Jim), Harrisonville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
