James "Jim" Nelson Totten, 73, Peculiar, MO, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Memorial services were held Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.
Jim was born August 15, 1945 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Marion L. and Thelma (Chandler) Totten. He was a 1964 graduate of SE High School. He had lived in the Kansas City, MO area most of his life. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran. Jim married Shelia Coots on May 29, 1965 in Kansas City, MO. He owned a commercial cleaning service, Executive Maintenance, in Kansas City. He was a member of the American legion. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Mic-O-Say. He was also a former Cub Scout leader.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shelia Totten, of the home; two sons, James N. Totten, Jr. (Nicole), Peculiar, MO and Michael Kevin Totten (Veronica), CO; three brothers, Darryl Totten, Shawnee, KS, Dale Totten, Basehor, KS, and Bryan Totten, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Joan Janes, Overland Park, KS; 10 grandchildren, Jacob, Bailey, Jesse, Elias, Danielle, Hannah, Niko, Adian, Kolt, and Kash, and one great-granddaughter, Carrie.
