James "Jim" C. King, 86, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away the morning of November 13, 2021 peacefully in his sleep at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Services were held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in Glenwild Cemetery, West Line, MO.
Jim was born on Feb. 26, 1935, son to Vernon Norman & Ernestine Ann (Wales) King. He was a loving brother to eight additional siblings. Shortly after his high school graduation, he joined the United States Army. In the fall of 1957, Jim married the love of his life, Frances D. Sanders. Two years following their marriage, they welcomed their daughter, Lela M. King. Throughout his life he served in the United States Army Reserves, as well as being a trucking dispatcher & maintaining Copeland's Car Wash. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, road trips with family and friends to craft shows, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was a loving and devoted Son, Brother, Uncle, Husband, Father, Papa & Friend who will be truly missed.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters: Nancy Joyce Brookshire, Joanne Hobusch & June Reno. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Frances D. King; his daughter, Lela M. Lusby; grandchildren, Emily Campos and Kyle Lusby; great-grandchildren: Kylee, Chase & Ryan Campos; his three brothers: Jerry King, Gary "Butch" King, and Joe King; and his two sisters, Janet Conrad and Julia Davis; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
