James Robert Floyd, 89, Blue Springs, MO, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Shangri-La Rehabilitation & Living Center in Blue Springs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Unit of the Masonic Home of Missouri or to Heartland Hospice.
James was born June 5, 1921 in Peculiar, MO, the son of Bruce O. and Sarah Evalena (Cassidy) Floyd, Sr. He married Jenny V. Hughes on December 22, 1942 in Kansas City, MO. James worked for Ford Motor Company in Claycomo for 30 years before retiring in 1976. He was a member of the UAW Local #249.
James was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and was a lifetime charter member of the WWII Memorial Society. He was also a member of the VFW Local #4409 and the Blue Springs Masonic Lodge #337 and was a past master of the Belton Masonic Lodge #450. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jenny of Blue Springs, MO; two daughters, Annette Lackey and her husband, Larry and Roma Troxel and her husband, Fred, both of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
