James Robert Brewer, 80, Independence, MO died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, MO. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

James was born March 20, 1936 in Butler, MO, the son of Loyd and Ruth (Evans) Brewer. He grew up in Taborville, MO and attended school in Appleton City, MO. He married Deloris Ann Turner on June 1, 1957 in Appleton City. They moved to Kansas City, MO and then to Independence in 1988.

James owned J. R. Brewer Construction Co. in Independence. He also worked in maintenance at Kansas City Christian School in Prairie Village, Kansas, before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed spending many weekends at their lake cabin in Sunrise Beach, MO.

James is survived by his wife, Deloris, of the home; two sons, Dave Brewer, Garden City, MO and Matthew Brewer, Kechi, KS; one sister, Deanna Dody, El Dorado Springs, MO, and 6 grandchildren.
