Obituary

Army Corporal Jacob Russell Carver, 20, Freeman, MO, died in action on Saturday, November 13, 2010 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Monday with Rosary service at 5:30 p.m. at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

A memorial fund has been set up at Commerce Bank for Jacob Carver. Checks may be made to Marie Carver, c/o Commerce Bank, P. O. Box 408, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Jacob was born April 25, 1990 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Arthur F. and Rosa Marie (Webster) Carver. He was a 2008 graduate of Cass-Midway High School and was a lifelong resident of Freeman, MO.

Jacob was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat and Special Skills Badge.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Art and Marie Carver, Freeman, MO; one brother, Tony Carver and his wife, Kristin, Locust Grove, GA; one sister, Heather Godsell and her husband, Justin, Logan, UT; one nephew, Landon Godsell; two nieces, Paige and Kiera Godsell; paternal grandmother, Joan Carver, Freeman, MO; maternal grandmother, Pauline Webster, Osceola, MO; other relatives and friends.
