Jackie L. Burkhart, 83, of Peculiar, MO, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services were held Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Peculiar First Baptist Church in Peculiar, Missouri. Interment in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Jackie was born on January 1, 1939 in Affton, St. Louis County, MO, a daughter of John Henry and Wilhemina Louise (Brammeier) Spauldin. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia and her Master's Degree in Office Education from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. Most of her career was as an educator, teaching business at numerous schools in Missouri, including Warrenton, Brookfield, St. Louis, and Kansas City. She taught at Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City for 25 years before retiring in 1994, after 29 years total of teaching.
Jackie grew up in Centralia, MO, living in several locations in Missouri and a small stint in California before meeting Kenneth Burkhart at Ruskin High School in Kansas City. They were married on June 6, 1970, and lived in Grandview, MO, from 1970-1989. She made Peculiar, MO, her last earthly home in 1989 until her passing. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Peculiar, serving various roles throughout the years. She was a volunteer at Cass Regional Medical Center beginning in 2007. Jackie enjoyed time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Towler. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ken Burkhart; her son, Toby (Gail) Burkhart of Walnut Shade, MO; her daughter, Kendra (James) Perkins of Oklahoma City, OK; her step-daughter, Dianna (Bruce) Crossland of Berthoud, CO; three grandchildren: Alex Crossland, Amanda Crossland, and Hunter Burkhart; her brothers: Ronald Spauldin of Columbia, MO; and Larry Spauldin of Centralia, MO; her sister, Kathryn Andrews of Arroya Grande, CA; and many more family and friends.
