Jack Sullivan Scott, 87, Adrian, Missouri, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Adrian Methodist Church building fund or the Adrian Library fund.
Jack was born September 24, 1924 in Breckenridge, Missouri, the son of Mattison and Iva (Burns) Sullivan. When he was 13 years old, Jack came to live with Rev. John R. and Ora Scott and was then adopted by the Scott's. Jack graduated from Adrian RIII High School in 1941 at the age of 16. In 1943, he joined the U. S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He came home and met and married Evelyn Smith. To this union a daughter and son were born.
Jack worked at various jobs, including driving a Standard Oil truck, Westinghouse and Bendix. He became a full time farmer, enjoying caring for his cows, bulls, dogs, watching his grandchildren, great grandchildren and reading.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of the home; daughter, Bonnie (Larry) Kunkelman; son, John (Peggy) Scott; granddaughters, Cathrine (Alan) Daily, Julie (Eric) Silver and Amy Kunkelman; grandson, Jason Kunkelman. He also leaves 5 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-great- grandchildren; a brother-in-law; sister-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews.
