Obituary

Jack Gerald Lacy, 90, of Archie, Missouri, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 with visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, Missouri. Burial will be in Virginia Cemetery, Virginia, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265, (ww5.komen.org).

Jack was born February 17, 1926 in Elkhart Township, Bates County, Missouri the son of Ed and Gladys (Kelly) Lacy. Jack was the youngest of six children, growing up in Merwin, Missouri and attended Silverdale School grades 1-8 and Merwin High School. He was a World War II Army Veteran. On December 12, 1944 he married the love of his life, Elise Mae Copeland, the daughter of Mac and Nettie Dowdle Copeland. To this union four children were born. They were married 49 years before she preceded him in death on January 8, 1994.

Jack and his father and his brothers ran the Lacyville Store for many years. He was an over the road driver, retiring at the age of 80; traveling all the states in the union, also going to Alaska and Canada. He was also a farmer an excavator and knew how fly a plane. He loved to play his guitar and dance with his friend Lois Muiller.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elise; brothers, Robert Lee Lacy, Paul Linwood Lacy, and Louis Edward Lacy; sisters, Mary Catherine (Lacy) Tipton and Mildred Lucille (Lacy) Beck. He is survived by his children, Delores and Richard Smith of Plainview, Arkansas, Gerald and Linda Lacy of Archie, Missouri, Eldon and Pamela Lacy of Adrian, Missouri and Donna Smith of Cave City, Arkansas; 17 grandkids; 38 great-grandkids; 5 great-great-grandkids; brothers-in-law, Glen and Janice Copeland, Rotan, Texas and Allan and Georgia Copeland, Archie, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Marie McDonnel, Archie, Missouri, Nadine Semsch, Freeman, Missouri and Fern Coffel of Sedalia, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
