Dr. John "Jack" Inman, 84, Harrisonville, Missouri died Friday, August 10, 2012 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to the church.
Jack was born on June 24, 1928. His family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, New York City and back to St. Louis. Jack graduated from high school at age 16. He pursued his education, enrolling at Rolla School of Mines, returning to St. Louis where he met his wife, Peggy Loyd, at age 19. Nine weeks after meeting Peggy, there were married, on February 7, 1948 in St. Louis and have been married for 64 years. They had a daughter, Kathy and 10 years later, a son, John. During these years, Jack received a Doctorate in Theology and a Doctorate in Psychology, pasturing churches in Amsterdam, Missouri, Peculiar, Missouri and Greenwood, Missouri and was a volunteer interim pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville for three years.
After leaving Missouri, Jack served as Chaplain of the Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City for four years. He then moved to Seattle, Washington, opening a Christian Counseling Center. Twenty-five years later he and Peggy retired and moved to Harrisonville so they could be near family. There he volunteered as counselor for Hope Haven, a home for abused women, and he was a volunteer counselor for the Juvenile Detention Center. He was very active in the community.
Jack is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; one daughter, Kathy Huston and her husband, John of Harrisonville, Missouri and grandson, Michael Stephens and his wife, Kara and great-grandsons, Chandler and Logan, all of Cleveland, Missouri ; one son, John Inman and his wife, Nicole and grandson, Liam Inman, all of Sun Valley Idaho; other relatives and friends.
In following with Jack's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center.
