J. D. Johnson, 90, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonville. Visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 at the church. Burial will be in Cadmus Cemetery, Cadmus, Kansas.
J. D. was born June 15, 1925 in Hanna, Oklahoma, the son of Walter E. and Minnie Beatrice (Branam) Johnson. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1948 and moved to Harrisonville in 1960. J. D. married Mary Frances Ayers on August 9, 1954. He was a WWII U. S. Navy veteran.
He worked for Nazarene Headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri for 9 years before retiring in July, 1990. He had worked as the manager for K&J Furniture from 1974-1978; was a dairy farmer for 10 years, and had also worked for Vendo Mfg. in Kansas City for 12 years, from 1951-1963.
J. D. was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clifford, Afton and Kenneth Johnson, a sister, Joyce Triece, a stepson, Raymond Frisbey, and his wife, Mary on February 6, 2001. He is survived by a stepson, Gary Frisbey, Sr., Mississippi; a daughter, Johnnie Miller, Arkansas; two brothers, Lester Johnson, Texas and Romie Johnson, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
