Ira Clinton Barnard, 75, Adrian, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held Friday, July 3, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, MO.
Ira was born January 27, 1945 in Harrisonville, MO, a son of Clyde Velmer and Kate Christina (Eifert) Barnard. He married LaVonne Hanson on December 24, 1969 at the Lutheran Church in Belton, MO. He had lived in Harrisonville before moving to the farm in Adrian in 1995. Ira had worked at Busy Bee Salvage in Harrisonville before buying his own business. He owned Barnard Auto Salvage in Harrisonville for 38 years, before retiring in 2010.
Ira loved working hard at his salvage yard and visiting with his friends and customers. He loved working on his ranch with his cattle and cutting and bailing hay. He loved being on the cruise ships and eating at the buffets. Ira did so much for so many, his friends, family and the community. He had a reputation of being kind, honest, hardworking, trustworthy and was a solid businessman with integrity unmatched. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, of the home and one daughter, Theresa Barnard, Garden City, MO.
