Idonna Ackley, 90, Blue Springs, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 E. 42nd Street South, Unit 600, Market Place Shopping Center, Independence, MO 64055.
Idonna was born July 6, 1925 in Alexandria, Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Templin) Lang. She grew up in Nebraska and was a 1943 graduate of Alexandria High School. She married Charles "Chuck" Irvin Ackley on August 12, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri. Idonna moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked at the U.S. Post Office in downtown Kansas City. She then worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Kansas City as an accounting tech for 37 years before retiring in April, 1982. Idonna moved to Harrisonville in 1982 and then to Blue Springs in 2010.
Idonna was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harry, two sisters, Marie and Edna, and her husband, Chuck, on November 20, 2004. She is survived by one son, Charles Yeager (Miriam), Sudbury, Massachusetts; two step-sons, Ben Ackley (Rhonda), Independence, Missouri and Larry Ackley, Lee's Summit, Missouri; one step-daughter, Daisy Rinehart, Independence, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
