Howard Wesley Groves, Sr., 56, Lowry City, MO, died Friday, August 18, 2017 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Deepwater Cemetery.


Howard was born September 18, 1960 in Jackson County, MO, the son of Delmer and Opal (Atkinson) Groves. He married Debra Sue Hendren on March 9, 1994 in Osceola, MO. Howard worked as an automotive mechanic and was an avid junk collector.


Howard was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Heather and Samantha Groves, one sister, Lora Ellen Oliver, and one brother, Bobby Groves. He is survived by his wife, Debra, of the home; three sons, Howard Groves, Jr., Lowry City, Kacey Groves, Lowry City and Darric Sharpley, Sr., Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Amanda Groves and Carleen Groves, both of Clinton; two brothers, Mark Oliver and Willie Oliver, Jr., both of Clinton, MO; three sisters, Norma Bysore, Chilhowie, MO, Cynthia Heishman, Gladstone, MO, and Loretta Martinez, Clinton, MO; 11 grandchildren, Juliet Sharpley, Darric Sharpley, Jr., Kinleigh Maldonado, Gracia Maldonado, Gabriel Groves, Braiginia Groves, Gabrial Groves, Whitney Groves, Matthew Groves, Jordan McClure, and Bethany Kirby.
