IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hervil Dean
Satterfield
June 28, 1943 – December 3, 2023
Hervil Dean Satterfield, 80, of Adrian, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at his home. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice or the Baptist Homes of Adrian.
Hervil was born June 27, 1943 in Pontiac, MO, to Claud Satterfield and Lois (Haskins) Satterfield. He attended school in Gainesville, MO, and graduated high school in 1961. After graduation, he held jobs at Ford, Kenworth, and did farm work. On October 15, 1974 Hervil was united in marriage to Margaret Robey and in the following year, 1975, he accepted Jesus as his Savior. They made their home in Kansas City, MO, and he went to work at Sears Roebuck & Co. where he was employed for 9 years. After his time at Sears, he was employed by W. W. Grainger, where he continued to work, until his retirement in 2000. After retiring, he spent his time mowing lawns and spending time with his friend, Joe, where they always found something fun to do.
In 2014, Hervil and Margaret decided to move to Adrian, MO. They lived in town but he enjoyed going fishing and spending time out at the farm; tending his apple, peach and pear trees; gooseberry and blackberry patches; and raising his bees. Hervil was also an avid gardener and was famous for his cucumbers and tomatoes. Many friends and family reaped the rewards of his hard work as he was always willing to share, whether it be honey, vegetables or fruit. Anything that had to do with the outdoors, you would find Hervil doing it. He always had to be busy. Hervil loved his family and friends, always enjoying the time spent with them at holidays, birthday parties, bonfires, hayrides, or just the everyday visits, especially from the great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In June of this year, Hervil suffered a stroke. After some rehab, he was moved to a nursing home. He was there until November 27 when he went home where he could be loved and care for by his wife and family and he passed with his wife at his side.
Hervil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jess, Charles and Merle; and a baby sister, Nina. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his brother, Glen; sisters: Betty Moon and Sue Campbell; and a host of relatives and friends.
