Herbert Lee Sheets, 74, Cleveland, Missouri died Friday, June 15, 2012 at St. Luke's South, Overland Park, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Freeman Baptist Church in Freeman, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 18 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial and Masonic services will be held at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, Missouri. Herb was born December 6, 1937 in Osceola, Missouri, the son of Emmitt Curtis and Opal Lee (Taylor) Sheets. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in Grant City, Missouri and Kansas City before moving to Cleveland in 1971. He married Edith Marie Kankey in August, 1967 in Kansas City.

Herb farmed, did woodworking, and worked for Kansas City Power & Light. He was a former member of the IBEW Union in Kansas City. He was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church. He was a 50-year member of the Grant City Masonic Lodge #66 AF&AM, Grant City, Missouri and a 50-year member of the St. Joseph Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Ararat Shrine in Kansas City.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of the home; three daughters, Debra (Dave) Baldwin and Brenda (Wayne) Boswell, both of Ravenwood, Missouri and Leslie Lee Davis, Oak Grove, Missouri; one brother, Fred Sheets, Sr., Pittsburg, Missouri; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
