Bud was born December 21, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Henry Dukes and Marjorie Elizabeth (Boner) Bledsoe. He was a graduate of Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where he served in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program. He then joined the Army and became a drill sergeant at Camp Chaffee near Ft. Smith, Arkansas, during the Korean War. After his time in the service, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Jean Brown, on June 30, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. This union was blessed with two daughters and one son.
Bud ran his own plumbing company in the area for over 30 years. In retirement, he loved his time traveling with his wife, Dorothy, and has deeply missed her since her passing on March 12, 2008. He was quite ornery and could tell great stories of all of his early mischief-filled days. He also enjoyed mowing and working on his farm, going to the lake, taking his dog, Mitzi, around town, and spending time with his family. He lived in the Peculiar, Missouri area for over 50 years.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Dorothy, one brother, John Bledsoe, of Kansas City, Missouri, and one sister, Louann (Bledsoe) O'Bryant of Lee's Summit, Missouri. He is survived by his two daughters, G. Jeanine Dusselier and husband, Paul, Raymore, Missouri and Tammy S. Vanderpool, Peculiar, Missouri; one son, H. Dukes Bledsoe, III, Lee's Summit, Missouri; one brother, L. Allen (Staci) Bledsoe, Paola, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Shannon, Scott, Renee, Kristin, Ceaira, and Keith, and 9 great-grandchildren.
