Helen Gladys (Trog) Wheeler, 88 of Peculiar, MO passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Cornerstone Chapel in Peculiar. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

Helen was born September 27, 1921 in Peculiar, MO one of five girls born to Charles and Marie (Chiffille) Trog. Both parents had immigrated to the United States from Switzerland. Helen graduated from Peculiar High School and then attended Central Missouri State Teachers College. She taught third grade before marrying J. C. Wheeler in 1947. They operated a farm until J.C.'s death in 2001.

Helen enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening, sewing and her numerous pets. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Peculiar and was active in church activities for many years.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Anna Neil, Lucy Trog and Lena Trog, two brothers, Charles Trog and Fred Trog and her husband, J. C. on November 16, 2001. She is survived by two sons, Michael Wheeler and wife, Joan, Kansas City, MO and Jay David Wheeler, Peculiar, MO; one daughter, Nancy Schawo and husband, David, Columbia, MO; her grandchildren, Monica and Melanie Wheeler, Carley Copto and husband, Rodolfo, Andrew Ott and wife, Tracy; great-grandchildren, Torivia and Audra Copto and Atlas Ott and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Roseberry, Kansas City, KS, Katherine Trog, Kansas City, MO and Connie Knox, Harrisonville, MO.
