Helen Allene Evans, 85, Jacksonville, North Carolina, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at her home. Funeral services were held Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Helen was born February 16, 1932 in Brownington, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur and Viola Catherine (Oliphant) Edmondson. Helen lived in Brownington and Clinton, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville. She moved to North Carolina in 2005. Helen married George Washington Evans on May 5, 1951. She worked for Scavuzzo's Grocery Store in Harrisonville for 30 years. She loved working at the Lynnwood Park Zoo with her son, Gary, helping him feed all of the animals.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George on March 28, 1990, two brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Gary Evans, Jacksonville, NC and Richard Evans and wife, Jovita, Harrisonville, MO; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
