Hazel Elizabeth Hooper, 95, Adrian, MO, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Adrian Manor, Adrian, MO. Funeral services 2:00 PM Monday, March 24 at Atkinson Chapel, Adrian with visitation from 12:00-2:00 PM Monday at the chapel. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Contributions to United Methodist Church, Adrian.

Hazel was born September 4, 1912 in Kingsville, MO. She was the second of five girls born to Ver E. and Edith Peace. She lived in Kansas City, MO during her childhood and graduated from Northeast High School. Hazel worked for Sears, Kansas City in her younger years and Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, MO as a dietician from 1969 to 1986.

Hazel married Albert F. Hooper on April 18, 1931. Hazel and Al had seven children together. They made Adrian their home in 1955. Hazel was very active in the Adrian United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Galilean Circle. Hazel loved raising her kids, having birthday parties with her sisters, visiting family and friends, cooking for people, gardening, and traveling.

Hazel always had a smile on her face and appreciated the little things in life. One of her favorite things to do was to go out for a hamburger and ice cream. You always knew where Hazel lived by the flowers and bird feeders in front of her house.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, her sister, Sarah M. Fieker, her son Robert L. Hooper and her son-in-law Henry E. French. Hazel is survived by three sisters and one brother-in-law, Billie Godden, Helen Riddle, Verlin and Roy Doubledee, all of Lee's Summit, MO; six children, Sharon French, Fredonia, KS, Ken Hooper and his wife, Sharon, Conroe, TX, Jim Hooper and his wife Pat, Broken Arrow, OK, Rick Hooper and his wife Marsha, Butler, MO, Tom Hooper and his wife, Sheri, Overland Park, KS and Kathy Shores and her husband, Larry, San Antonio, TX. Hazel also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
