Obituary

Harold David Roth, 99, lifelong farmer, east of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Meadow View of Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 9:30-11:00. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 400 South Independence Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Harold was born December 10, 1915 at his home between Garden City and Harrisonville, the son of Frank and Emma (Plank) Roth. He attended school through 8th grade, and began his farming career with his father. They expanded the farm, and when his father retired, Harold took over. The farm is now run by his grandson. Harold was often an early adapter of new technology on the farm; computerized record keeping, harvesting of shelled corn, and irrigation were all new methods he embraced to help with the success and growth of the farm.

Harold met Mildred Allinson in East Lynne, Missouri, and they were married on March 8, 1941. They were involved in Farm Bureau, East Lynne Chamber of Commerce, FFA, People To People, and the Harrisonville First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Harold was also very active in the Missouri Cattleman's Association. They loved to travel and visited all 50 states and 6 continents.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Celesta Sperry and Eva Ruth Roth. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Mildred, Harrisonville; four children, Dwight Roth and wife, Wanda, Warsaw, Missouri; Leonard Roth and wife, Polly, Blue Springs, Missouri, Shirley Schrock and husband, Thomas, Garden City, Missouri, and Carol Sue Richards and husband, Michael, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and spouses; 15 great-grandchildren and spouses, and many friends.
