Harold Eugene Fowlkes, 84, of Harrisonville, Missouri died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery, Lee's Summit, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm Sunday, December 11, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Harold was born in Jackson County, Missouri near Lee's Summit on November 2, 1927, a son of Harrison and Deane Rose (Martin) Fowlkes. He grew up in the Lee's Summit area and was a graduate of the Lee's Summit Schools. Harold graduated from The University of Missouri, Columbia in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was a Methodist and a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Harold was an engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers for 20 years before his retirement. He had lived in Harrisonville since 1976.

He is survived by his companion of 50 years, Barbara Farris, of Harrisonville, other relatives and friends.
