Obituary

Harold Davis, 90, of Freeman, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home in Freeman, MO, on Thursday, July 2, 2026. ,Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with Masonic services  held before the funeral service. Interment  at Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to MO Masonic Home.

Harold was born on October 10, 1935, in Peculiar, Missouri, to Bryan and Alice (Taylor) Davis. On November 16, 1956, Harold married the love of his life, Marietta, at Austin Baptist Church. Together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Harold retired from Yellow Freight, where he was affectionately known by his CB handle, "Skeeter." One of his greatest joys was hearing his grandchildren call for "Skeeter" over the CB radio, creating moments they would treasure for a lifetime.

A devoted Mason for more than 60 years, Harold faithfully served Grand River Lodge No. 276 in numerous leadership roles throughout his lifetime. Just days before his passing, he was honored with his 60-year service pin, a fitting tribute to a lifetime of dedication and service. His daughter, Peggy, fondly remembered trying to sneak a peek inside his Masonic book as a little girl, creating a playful game between father and daughter that remained one of her favorite childhood memories. Harold was also a 49-year member of Bayard Chapter #179, Order of Eastern Star in Harrisonville, MO.

Harold loved woodworking and creating things that were built to last. He took tremendous pride in caring for his home, especially his immaculate lawn, flourishing garden, and beautiful property. Whether pulling his grandchildren around the yard behind his lawn mower, sharing what he knew, or simply spending time together, Harold had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special. He found his greatest joy in caring for the people and places that meant the most to him.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marietta Davis; parents, Bryan and Alice Davis; sister, Francis Davis; brother, William Jr. Davis; sister-in-law, Gertie Davis; and son-in-law, Ronnie McCubbin. He is survived by his children: David Davis (Delores), Peggy McCubbin, and Jon Harrison (Barb), whom he loved as his own; his grandchildren: Perry Richardson (Karri), Mindy Richardson, and Jackie Davis; his great-grandchildren: Cloie Ann Parks (Avery), Wade Richardson, Wyatt Richardson, and Bo Williams; his sister, Marylou Van Vleet; and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Harold quietly showed up every day, took care of what mattered, and never needed recognition for it. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering work ethic, and the example he set through a life well lived. His steady presence became the foundation of a family that loved him deeply. That legacy will live on in the stories they share, the values he instilled, and the lives he touched.
