Obituary

Harley Clarence Jackson, 97, Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, October 5, 2018 at his home.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, MO.   Memorial contributions may be made to Harrisonville United Methodist Church.

Harley was born January 13, 1921 on a farm near Virginia, MO, the son of Virgil B. and June R. (Shesler) Jackson.  He was a 1938 graduate of Adrian High School.  After graduation he worked on the family farm near Ballard before going to work for Safeway in Kansas City, MO in 1941.

On January 11, 1942, Harley married Naomi Virginia Maddux in Harrisonville, MO.  He was inducted in to the WWII Army, serving in Japan.  After his discharge, he moved to Kuna, Idaho, where he hauled lumber and was a long-distance truck driver.  He also did custom farm work and owned and operated a dairy farm.  Harley moved to Harrisonville in 1967 and worked for Allis Chalmers and Lake City in Independence, MO before going to work for Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) Lodge in Butler and the UAW.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a member of the Harrisonville United Methodist Church.

Harley was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi, his parents, two brothers, Leroy and Franklin, and an infant son, Harley Dale.  He is survived by one son, Harold Jackson, Harrisonville, MO; four daughters, Jane Butler, Boise, ID, Teresa Jackson, Belton, MO, Marilyn Schneider, Raymore, MO, and Carol Sackrider, Harrisonville, MO; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
