Gus Wooton, 77, of Harrisonville, MO died Friday, February 25, 2011 at Saint Lukes East in Lee's Summit, MO. Funeral Services 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville with burial in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, MO. Visitation is from 1:00 - 2:00 on Monday.
Gus was born September 23, 1933 in Flippin, AR, the son of Dow Thomas and Mae (Hurst) Wooton. On February 13, 1954, Gus was united in marriage to Kathaleen Schoolfield. He worked as an automobile painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the race track to watch racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, J. W. Wooton, two sisters, Mary Dell Wooton and Mabel Johnson. He is survived by two sons, Thomas "Tom" Wooton and his wife, Gayle of Gunn City, MO and James "Jimmy" Wooton and his wife, Tammy of Belton, MO; two daughters, Kathy Doll and Bryan of Garden City, MO and Kelly Main and her husband, Scott of Garden City, MO; two sisters, Betty Morris and her husband, Don of Waco, TX and Doris Stillwell of Flippin, AR; ex-wife, Kathaleen Wooton of Garden City, MO; friend, Deana Hickman of Raytown, MO; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
