Goldie Lucille (Day) Cunningham, 95, Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, with family and loved ones at her side. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Goldie was born September 11, 1922 in Altona, MO, one of nine children born to Melvin C. and Edna (Lancaster) Day. She grew up in the Austin Community and had lived in Archie before moving to Harrisonville in 1957. Goldie was a 1941 graduate of Archie High School and had attended 75 class reunions. She married Arnold "Red" Cunningham on October 4, 1941 in Butler, MO.
Goldie was a meat wrapper for Nymans, Hen House, and Buy Rite Grocery Store in Harrisonville for 20 years before retiring. She then worked for the Markee Shop on the square in Harrisonville for 10 years. Goldie was a member of the Meat Cutters Union. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville, the Glorified Homemakers Club, and had volunteered as a Pink Lady at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville for many years.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold, on June 3, 1998, three brothers, Aubrey, Charlie, and Bobby Day, three sisters, Marie Thomas, Anna Mae King, and Peggy Tallman, and one grandson, Shane Mathes. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Mathes (Mel), and Sharon Davis (Bill), and one son, Wes Cunningham (Lois), all of Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Harold Day (Dee Hughes), Harrisonville; one sister, Joy Crook (Joe), Archie, MO; 5 grandchildren, Scott Mathes (Carla), Kevin Mathes (J'anna), Tim Davis, Jamie Davis (Wanda), and Ryan Cunningham (Angie); 6 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren, and special friend, Roland Clement, Harrisonville.
