Glenn "Buzz" Phillips Myers, 83, Freeman, MO, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Golden Years Care Center, Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services 1:00 PM Friday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church in Freeman. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, April 24 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial in Freeman Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Dolan-West Dolan Fire Protection District Rescue Squad.
Buzz was born August 18, 1924 in West Line, MO, the son of Chester Elliott and Vernie (Phillips) Myers. He married LaVerda "Jane" Gunderson on May 26, 1945 in Sioux City, IA.
Buzz was a lifelong Cass County, MO resident. He attended Brownville Grade School and graduated from Freeman High School. He was a farmer until he moved into town in 1982. Buzz was a member of the Cass Midway School Board for 12 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Freeman. Buzz was also on the Board of Directors of the Dolan-West Dolan Fire Protection District. He was a WWII Army veteran.
Buzz was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jane, on April 14, 2000 and one grandson, Michael Craycraft. He is survived by three sons, Bill Myers, Independence, MO, John Myers, Freeman, MO and Ron Myers, Perry, MO; two daughters, Nancy Williams, Little Rock, AR and Rhoda Craycraft, Cleveland, MO; two sisters, Alice Faye Metheny, Raymore, MO and Anna Lee Davenport, Drexel, MO; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
