Obituary

Glenn William Mullen, 83, Peculiar, MO, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at John Knox Village Hospice House in Lee's Summit, MO.  Funeral services were held  Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar.

Glenn was born August 20, 1936 on a farm west of Adrian, MO in Bates County, MO, a son of Franklin Lee and Ida Mae (Ferguson) Mullen.  He was a U. S. Army veteran and had played baseball for the Army Base League.  Glenn married Carol Lou Curnutt on September 21, 1963, in Raytown, MO.  He had worked as an operating engineer in the power house at Allied Signal/Bendix for 36 years before retiring in 1997.  He had lived in Peculiar since 1963 and owned and operated Mullen Refrigeration.  Glenn had served on the city council for several years and had coached little league baseball.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Sylvester "Jr" Mullen and his wife, Norma.  He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; one son, Kevin Mullen (Sheri), Peculiar, MO; one daughter, Patty Beard (Troy), Camdenton, MO; four grandchildren, Heather Orleman (David), Olathe, KS, Dustin Sanders (Crystal), Oak Grove, MO, Jason Beard (Diana Christian), St. Louis, MO, and Ashley Beard (fiancé', Blake Hiza), Sedalia, MO; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Neitch, Carter Orleman, Hunter Sanders, and Preston Sanders, and two nephews, John Mullen, Adrian, MO and Jim Lavery, Tipton, MO.
