Glenda Sue McCleave, 73, Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 5 at the Atkinson Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 400 South Independence Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Glenda was born June 27, 1935 in Pickering, MO in Nodaway County, MO, the daughter of Champ Clark and Sylvia B. (Baldwin) Rice. She married George A. McCleave on June 23, 1957. Glenda moved to Harrisonville in 1959.

Glenda was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the Harrisonville School District. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville. Glenda was a volunteer for the Cass Medical Center Auxiliary as well as a member of the Homemaker's Club.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George on November 6, 1989; one brother, Donnis Rice and one sister, Shirley Foster. She is survived by one son, Randy McCleave and his wife, Janie, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Melanie McCleave, M.D. and Ed Ruebling, Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Lorris Rice, Ainsworth, Nebraska and four grandchildren, George Jackson "Jack" McCleave, Nicholas Rhea "Nick" McCleave, Richard "Rich" Ruebling and Grace Ruebling.
