Obituary

Glenda Ann Everly, 80, Peculiar, MO, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial  in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO.

Glenda was born January 22, 1943 in Wishart, MO, a daughter of Glen and Laura (Fulks) Breshears. She lived in Kansas City, MO, and was a 1961 graduate of Ruskin High School. Glenda was united in marriage to Vernon Everly on July 1, 1961 in Bolivar, MO. She and Vernon moved to Peculiar in 1971 and started Everly Turf Farm. Glenda worked happily beside her loving husband, Vernon, for many years on their farm as the Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. She would help mow, drive and load the trucks, lay sod, help maintain the sod fields, make lunch for everyone, and do all of the bookwork needed to keep the farm going.

Glenda was a woman with many different talents and hobbies. She enjoyed collecting and showing buttons, and placed several times while presenting them at button shows and competitions. She was also a wonderful sewing enthusiast, creating many things alongside her good friends. She would spend hours upon hours creating the cutest decoration for her and Vernon's house and even making Christmas ornaments for family and friends. While Glenda was pretty much a jack of all trades, her biggest love was for her family and friends. She had the biggest heart, she loved and cared for everyone that she knew and always had to have the last, "love you most." She would do anything for anyone and it never went unnoticed.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Scott Alan Everly, on October 10, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Vernon, of the home; one daughter, Sharal Payne (James), Raymore, MO; one sister, Gaila Simpson, Raymore, MO; 5 grandchildren: Justin (Barbara), Jeremy, Jessica Payne, and Meghan (Michael) Durbin and Sadie Everly; and 4 great-grandchildren: Maesilyn, Cal, Tate Alan, and Margot.
