Glen Allen Simmons, 80, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at his son's home in Belton, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8 at the Antioch Southern Baptist Church in Harrisonville with visitation from 1:00-2:00 at the church. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Southern Baptist Church, 2601 East Mechanic Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.
Glen was born June 8, 1932 in Lisle, Missouri, the son of Charles M. and Nellie D. (Tribby) Simmons. He was a graduate of Drexel, Missouri High School. Glen married Carol Lela Hocker on June 14, 1952. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a lifelong Cass County, Missouri resident.
Glen worked for Allied Signal for 35 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the IAM Local 778, Kansas City, Missouri (Machinists Union), and was a member of Antioch Southern Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Glen traveled extensively and taught line dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Glenn is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; two sons, Allen Simmons, Belton, Missouri and Charles "Chuck" W. Simmons, Grand Rapids, Michigan; one daughter, Shelley R. McMurray, Clinton, Missouri; one brother, Charles "Clifford" Simmons, Tampa Bay, Florida; two sisters, Jean Simmons, Warrensburg, Missouri and Leona Smith, Harrisonville, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, David Paul Simmons, John Edwin Simmons, Angela René Latham, Melanie Anne Ryberg, Jenifer Lea Simmons and Michael Ryan Wilkinson and 7 great-grandchildren, Jacob Allen Govro, Ethan Joseph Govro, Briella Elizabeth Ryberg, Gage O'Neal Coggins, Devon Allen Coggins, Brandon Paul Simmons and Nathan Charles Simmons.
