Glen Carol Lacy, 88, Pleasant Hill, MO, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Camden Health Care Center, Harrisonville, MO. Graveside services 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Visitation 12:30-1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville.
Glen was born December 17, 1918 in rural Freeman, MO, the son of Horace Calvin and Sarah Naomi (McSpadden) Lacy. He was one of 13 children. Glen lived in the section of Pleasant Hill called "Happy Hill". He lived in the same house for 64 years.
Glen had a green thumb and took great pride in his horticulture talents while working at A. D. Moore Greenhouse in Pleasant Hill and then the Longview Farm Greenhouse in Lee's Summit, MO, where he worked until his retirement. Glen was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Glen was a kind, compassionate, gentle person, always with a smile and appreciative heart. He took care of his parents in their later years. For several years, his sister, Mae, had made her home with Glen until she had to go to the Camden Health Care Center in Harrisonville.
Glen moved to Camden Health Care Center in March of 2007 of his own free will, realizing that he would not be able to continue his almost daily commute to visit his sister, Mae. Once again, he was with his sister, which brought great comfort to both of them.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters. He will be sadly missed by his two brothers, Urless E. Lacy, Belton, MO and Marvin C. Lacy, Harrisonville, MO; one sister, Mae Leonard, Harrisonville, MO; nieces and nephews and friends.
(Arrangements under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, MO).
