Gladys Maurine Harper, 97, Raymore, MO, formerly Peculiar, MO, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 20 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Wills Cemetery in Peculiar. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Peculiar, MO.

Gladys was born July 18, 1919 in Cleveland, MO, the daughter of Herman Edgar and Mary Ione (Corey) Weeks. She was a 1936 graduate of Cleveland High School. She had lived in Seattle, Washington before moving to Kansas City, MO in 1944, moving to Peculiar in 1965.

She married Harold Harper on April 1, 1944 in Kansas City, MO. Gladys was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peculiar. She had worked as a telephone operator after high school in Peculiar and Harrisonville. She then worked for Grace Garment Factory in Belton. She retired as Tax Collector for the City of Peculiar.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, and a sister, Marie Weeks. She is survived by nephews, Jerry Harper (Gayle), Peculiar, MO, Jim Harper (Pat), Tampa, FL, and Don Harper (Cheryl), Branson, MO; niece, Vickie Coleman, Raymore, MO; other nephews, nieces and extended family.
